Timely spearhead for Snippetson

Lim's Sincere The topsy-turvy WA 2YO sires’ table took another turn when Snippetson assumed the lead on Saturday.

The Scenic Lodge resident sired a quinella for trainer Richard Jolly when Time Out defeated Bangs in the $100,000 Schweppes Plate (1050m) at Morphettville.

Snippetson is the third ladder leader this week.  Alfred Nobel was in charge before defending champion Oratorio (Aus) led home a Belmont quinella with Sweet Ora and Carnelian on Wednesday.

WA 2YO PREMIERSHIP
$408,435   Snippetson
$376,950   Oratorio
$363,425   Alfred Nobel
$360,825   Demerit
$291,575   War Chant

“We made a conscious effort to target races like the Schweppes Plate,” Jolly said.  “It’s good money and our focus has been to have a big hand in them.

“Time Out had the perfect run and was really strong on the line.  We will probably give him one more run, while Bangs will go for a break.  She was in a bit of a mood today and missed the kick which was probably the difference between winning and losing.”

A homebred for Mark Crawford, he had been runner-up three time before a half-length victory on Saturday.  His older brother Quite Right won 8 races and $390,000 in Perth for Crawford and trainer Paul Jordan.

Time Out (2g Snippetson – Quite Right by Dolphin Street) hails from the family of My Serene (Sir Tristram) who was one of the best fillies seen out in Perth during the 1980s.  Trained by Frank Maynard for Keith Biggs, she won a Strickland Stakes, Burgess Queen Stakes, Belmont Oaks and Sheila Gwynne Quality.

Snippetson (Snippets) started the weekend on a winning note with Lim’s Sincere in Singapore on Friday evening.  “He looked the standout in the parade ring,” apprentice jockey Salim Yusoff said.  “I took a sit and, when I let him go, he was just too good.  I just pointed him in the right direction.”

The speedy three year-old has now won three races and AUD 154,000 since making $30,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions HIT Sale.

Snippetson (Snippets) stands for a $6,500 (plus gst) service fee at Scenic Lodge Stud.
