Snippetson Sires 10th Juvenile winner in Singapore

Scenic Lodge sire Snippetson was represented by his latest two year-old winner when newcomer Lim’s Sincere landed the Initiation Stakes (1000m) in Singapore on Friday.

The Steven Burridge trained youngster had trialled reasonably well and was a lot more forward on debut under stable apprentice Syafiq Hazman. He jumped straight to the front but had to be bustled to head off Anak Penang who wouldn’t surrender the rails at Kranji.

Given extra rein at the top of the straight, he responded to skip clear for a convincing victory. “That was a strong race but he’s shown ability from Day 1,” Burridge said. “He had a couple of trials and then went shin-sore. He was also a very excitable type and we had to teach him to settle.

Lims sincere“We’ve held him up in trials but decided to just let him run today and it’s paid off.”

Lim’s Sincere (2g Snippetson – Exabaa by Anabaa) was purchased by Mick Dittman at the 2014 Gold Coast 2YO HIT Sale for $30,000. The former champion jockey is the racing manager for Lim’s Stable.

Syafiq was instructed to use his mount’s speed in the early stages. “Mr Burridge told me to lead if possible. The horse on the inside kept me out but that was okay as he was travelling on the bit. He gave a nice kick and was too good for them.”

The Singapore result sent Snippetson’s current crop of juvenile winners into double figures. He has sired 9 domestic individual winners in that division headed by Flemington stakes winning filly My Poppette.

Snippetson will stand for a $6,500 (plus gst) fee at Scenic Lodge this year.
